Exciting news to report here today at Sil-TerHar Mazda from our manufacturer! Because of higher-than-expected demand for new Mazda models that feature the brand's patented SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY, the automaker has disclosed that it will be expanding manufacturing of these transmissions by more than twice the current capacity over the next two years.

The fact that Mazda is fortifying their SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY is exciting for both the brand, and consumer for a number of reasons. Firstly, the entire basis of SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY initiatives is to optimize fuel efficiency and engine performance, which is great for consumers; and it's a unique and patented technology for Mazda, providing them a competitive advantage over other manufacturers.

Mazda is poised to achieve global sales of 1.7 million vehicles sold annually by fiscal year 2016, with about 80% of those vehicles slated to include SKYACTIV® technology. The company is taking a number of steps to achieve these goals. Mazda plans to open an entirely new production plant in Thailand, and to expand their Hofu, Japan plant, already Mazda's largest transmission producing site.

Nariaki Uchida, Executive Officer and Manager of Mazda's Hofu, Japan production plant went on to say; " Moving forward, Mazda is committed to delivering vehicles featuring SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY to the greatest number of customers possible and to contribute to the further development of Yamaguchi prefecture and the city of Hofu."1
