The first official photos of the 2014 Mazda3 were recently released online , and while we're very excited about what we saw here at Sill-TerHar Mazda in Broomfield, CO, we are hardly the only ones.

The photos have generated ton of buzz online, largely due to a sleek new exterior design that is truly eye-catching. The 2014 Mazda3 will borrow from the 2014 Mazda6 in terms of visual design. This means that both cars will feature Mazda's patented KODO Design Language (meaning curvy bodylines on the sides and quarter panels), as well as an aggressively-styled new 5-point front end grille. Additionally, the body will be lower and wider than ever before, allowing for plenty of space on the interior of the vehicle as well.

Of course, good-looks can only account for so much of the quality-car equation. Good thing the 2014 Mazda3 will include one of two workhorse engines from the automaker, either a SKYACTIV®-G 2.0-liter (155 horsepower, 150 lb.-ft torque), or a SKYACTIV®-G 2.5-liter (184 horsepower, 185 lb.-ft torque). Either engine can be linked to a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission, and both feature Mazda's patented i-ELOOP brake energy regeneration system.
