At Sill-TerHar Mazda we always get excited when it comes time for the New York Auto Show. New concepts, models, technology, and a wide variety of other surprises make the event not only exciting but engaging. Perhaps the greatest news we gathered from the show was learning that a couple of new Mazda vehicles are up for the 2013 World Car of the Year award.
Which models are in the running? The Mazda CX-5 and the Mazda6 made the list which quite frankly should come as no surprise to anyone who test drove one of these vehicles at our Mazda showroom.
Both will contend against 8 other finalists in a rigorous evaluation for the coveted award which will be announced later this February. The Mazda CX-5 and Mazda 6 will be graded on categories such as merit, value, safety, eco-friendliness, visual appeal, and its significance in the motor world.
Both stand a strong chance for placing well in this award. Each come equipped with the state-of-the-art SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY which is available in either gas or diesel on the Mazda6. Mazda CX-5 boasts the highest fuel economy rating among all utility vehicles including hybrids.
In the event either model takes the title, it would join the Mazda2 as a World Car of the Year Winner. The popular hatchback was the recipient of the award in 2008.
