Most cars will never be driven 9,000+ miles in a single journey. And most test drives are not 9,000+ miles long either. But the Mazda3 is not most cars, and Mazda, unlike most manufacturers, is so confident in their product that they will buck industry trends yet again, and will send a convoy of eight Mazda3 hatchbacks on a journey from their birthplace at the Mazda factory in Hiroshima, all the way to the 2013 International Motor Show, taking place in Frankfurt, Germany.
Mazda is calling this incredible journey the "Mazda Route3- Hiroshima to Frankfurt Challenger Tour, and it certainly will be challenging. A group of automotive journalists and bloggers will span 9 time zones, 5 countries, and 2 continents as they move through the tour. After crossing the Sea of Japan on ferries, the Mazdas will travel across the largest country in the entire world, Russia, before traversing Belarus and Poland, and finally crossing into Germany.
Arriving in Frankfurt three days before the start of the Motor Show, on September 7th, the fleet will be able to be tracked for the entirety of their journey on the website www.mazda.co.uk/mazdaroute3, which will feature daily updated images, video, and journal entries from the drivers themselves.
Mazda has actually put on similar displays to this in the past, as Mazda models were some of the first vehicles to traverse the newly freed Soviet Union in 1990, and the company staged an endurance event for the first time in 1977.
Come visit our Broomfield, CO showroom soon and see firsthand what makes Mazda models such great vehicles.
