How to Avoid Hydroplaning

Driving in adverse weather conditions can be dangerous and drivers need to be extra cautious to avoid accidents. Driving in heavy rain can lead to hydroplaning, below are some tips on how to avoid hydroplaning:

  • Tires- Make sure you tires have the proper amount of tread and are inflated properly.
  • Reduce Speed- Driving at slower speeds during rain allows the tires to properly disperse water and allow them to make proper contact with the road.
  • Avoid Outer Lanes- Outer lanes tend to accumulate more water making it easier to hydroplane.
  • Drive in Tracks of Car Ahead- Try to drive in the tracks of the car ahead of you as the water has been dispersed and your tires will make better contact with the road.
